Wine tycoon’s son admits fiancée attack
THE privately educated son of a millionaire wine importer who dragged his girlfriend by the hair and then kicked her in the stomach at his £2million Thames-side apartment has been spared jail.
Marco Nardone, 29, was yesterday sentenced to eight weeks’ jail suspended for 18 months at Westminster magistrates’ court after admitting the Dec 12 assault on Toni Allcock.
The court heard a row took place at 2.30am after he returned to his west London home “very drunk” after having dinner with his father, Remo, 81, the owner of Enotria Winecellars.
Martin Lewis, defending, said that the couple were engaged to be married and business partners and planned to attend counselling together.
Amanda Barron, the chairman of the bench, said: “You started with hands around the throat, you slapped her so hard her ears were ringing.
“You kicked her in the stomach and before then you pulled her by her hair. It must have been terrifying for her. You were out of control. We also believe this is a pattern of behaviour. We are very concerned about her safety.”
Nardone was also ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £115 and take up “building better relations” rehabilitation treatment.
