Lessons from Carillion

SIR – Carillion’s demise cannot be blamed on Brexit (Letters, January 17), but the Government’s sole focus on Britain leaving the EU does mean its eye has been off the ball.

The Tories have pointed to all the Carillion contracts signed by the Labour government. But Carillion was not issuing profit warnings during the Labour years; it had, however, issued three in the past six months. Jenny Mahony
