Ukip’s next move
SIR – How can Jonathan Bullock (Letters, January 18) believe that Ukip’s continued existence will help Britain increase defence spending, cut immigration and leave the EU when it has only ever succeeded in aiding the election of Labour and Liberal Democrat MPS who oppose such policies?
I have been a Conservative member since 1981 and have disagreed with the party on many issues; but I have never lost sight of which parties are the real enemies of strong defence, national sovereignty, sound finance, wealthcreation and individual freedom.
Although I nearly always disagree with William Hague (Comment, January 16), he is right to call for Ukip to shut up shop and encourage its members to join a party that can stop the Left from destroying this country. Philip Duly
