Granite to blame for North Sea pipeline halt

Ineos said Scottish granite was to blame for the two-week shutdown of the North Sea’s largest pipeline, as part of it was resting on a “sharp ridge of granite rock” and vibrations over time caused a hairline crack. Ineos bought the Forties pipeline from BP last October.
