Billionaire: I was victim of £90m burglary

-

BILLIONAIRE James Stunt claims he has been the victim of Britain’s biggest ever burglary – with jewellery worth £90 million allegedly taken.

Petra Ecclestone’s ex-husband told police that his new home in Belgravia, central London, was burgled on Dec 14.

He moved into the street, where house prices average £6.5million, after the couple split last year.

Mr Stunt says cash and valuables were taken from his safe, which was in his basement – and initially believed it was an inside job.

A man was arrested shortly after, but released under investigation and police are still hunting the burglar.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Police were called at approximately 7.45am on Dec 14 by a man reporting the burglary of jewellery from a house in South Eaton Place, Belgravia. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested in December 2017 in connection with the investigation.

“He has been released under investigation. Inquiries continue.”
