Woman who let child steer mobility scooter in bus crash
A DISABLED woman has been fined £80 for allowing an eight-year-old to steer her mobility scooter and crashing into a bus.
Linda Foy, 43, and her young relative, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been going to a doctor’s appointment last July when the incident occurred in Norwich, the city’s magistrates’ court heard.
Mrs Foy, who lost the use of her limbs in 2014, suffered bruising to her arm but the child escaped unhurt.
She admitted driving without due care and attention and also had three penalty points put on her licence.
After the hearing, Alex Foy, 43, said his wife only had the use of her right thumb and forefinger and needed the help of the eight-year-old to steer. “For two months they were using it together with no problem,” he said.
