PTSD soldier a war casualty, says his father

A SOLDIER who served alongside Prince Harry in Afghanistan, and is believed to have killed himself, was a “casualty of war” just as if he had been shot on the battlefield, his parents have said.

Police found Warrant Officer Nathan Hunt, 39, hanged at his Lincoln home on Jan 2 after concerns were raised about his safety.

Speaking yesterday, after an inquest was opened into their son’s death, Derek, 66, and Maria Hunt, 64, said they hoped it would help end the “stigma” of posttraumatic stress disorder among troops.

Mr Hunt said: “I don’t see Nathan’s death as any different to if he had been shot on the battlefield. He is a casualty of war.”
