Cover point: woman on front of cricket bible
THE Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack is to have a woman on the front cover for the first time.
Anya Shrubsole will be the first female player to grace the cover of the annual reference book to commemorate England’s World Cup win on home soil last year. Shrubsole, 26, hit the winning runs in a tense semi-final victory over South Africa before her six for 46 brought England back from the brink of defeat as they edged out India in the Lords showpiece last July.
Shrubsole said: “It’s an amazing honour and privilege to be on the cover of Wisden.” The book is out on April 12.
