Police called to Gove’s house over daughter’s party

-

♦ The police were called to Michael Gove’s house after his teenage daughter’s party got out of hand, according to Sarah Vine, the Environment Secretary’s wife.

Ms Vine wrote in her Daily Mail column of how she had to confiscate champagne and a “suspicious cigarette” from teenage partygoers.

Her daughter had invited friends from her all-girl state school and others from her old school, including some boys. She said it was the behaviour of the young men, who plied girls with alcohol and cigarettes, that disturbed her most. Ms Vine said their attitude towards the girls made her want to “weep”, and her daughter as “visibly upset” by their behaviour.

The police arrived after a noise complaint by neighbours, she added.
