Finsbury Park accused ‘smiled after van attack’
♦ The man accused of carrying out a terror attack in London’s Finsbury Park was laughing and “constantly smiling” as he was put in a police van afterwards, a court heard yesterday.
Darren Osborne, of Glyn Rhosyn in Cardiff, deliberately mowed down Muslims outside north London two mosques shortly after 12.15am on June 19 last year, prosecutors have alleged.
Adnan Mohamud, 28, who called 999, said he would never forget the face of the van driver after he was wrestled to the ground. In a statement read to court, he said: “I remember him saying, ‘I have done my job, you can kill me now’. He was smiling as he said it.” He added: “I knew at this point that what he did was not an accident – it was definitely deliberate.”
The trial continues.
