Zimbabwe’s leader wants to meet May

-

ZIMBABWE’S new president has said he eagerly awaits a meeting with Theresa May in Davos because Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s only other female leader, was “good to us”.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss ski resort, Emerson Mnangagwa, who replaced Robert Mugabe after a de facto military coup last November, said: “I would like to meet Theresa May. I believe she will be good to us. Margaret Thatcher was good to us. All the male prime ministers have not been good to us.”

It was seen to mark a bid for better relations between London and Harare.
