Leader of the pack
The Vincent Black Lightning was the fastest motorcycle in the world when it went on sale in 1948. Now it has set a new record – as the most expensive two-wheeler ever sold at auction after it went for $929,000 (£656,000) at Bonhams in Las Vegas. The 1951 model is one of just 33 made. Sold to an Australian and capable of 122mph, it later broke that nation’s speed record at 141.5mph.
