School bans long nails to ‘limit conflict’
A SCHOOL has introduced a ban on long fingernails to reduce “conflict” between teenage girls.
Rawlett School, in Tamworth, Staffs, has been criticised by some parents for introducing a uniform policy that prevents pupils from having nails longer than half-an-inch (1.5cm).
Tim Bassett, the headmaster, said he decided to provide “nail legislation to limit conflict and ensure consistency”. He has also ordered that nail colours should be “neutral or calm” in order to “limit conflict and ensure consistency”.
Some parents criticised the move, claiming it is “bizarre, petty and completely unenforceable”.
Rachel Edney said: “What a silly rule.” While John Batman, said: “Who is going to go around checking all the pupils’ nails with a ruler?”
