Spain expels Venezuelan ambassador in tit-for-tat
The Spanish government has declared Venezuela’s ambassador persona non grata following an equivalent move by the Venezuelan government yesterday.
Venezuela said it was expelling the Spanish ambassador in response to Spain’s “aggressions”. The decision came days after the EU imposed sanctions on senior officials of the socialist government.
Caracas accuses Mariano Rajoy, Spain’s prime minister of being one of the masterminds behind the sanctions.
