Armfield’s playing

SIR – Thank you for the obituary of Jimmy Armfield the Blackpool footballer (January 23), a man much loved by those who knew him on and off the field.

An illustration of his service to the community is that for many years he faithfully played the organ at St Peter’s church in a deprived part of Blackpool.
