Fidel Castro’s depressed eldest son takes own life
The eldest son of Fidel Castro, the Cuban revolutionary leader, committed suicide on Thursday after suffering for months from depression, Cuban staterun media has reported.
Fidel Castro Díaz-balart, a nuclear scientist also known as “Fidelito”, had been admitted to hospital but was later treated for depression as an outpatient.
Born in 1949, he was the subject of a custody dispute as a child, with his mother reportedly taking him to the US and his father taking him back to Cuba.
