Of course, you don’t have to be a man to treat a woman like a piece of meat. As we get deeper into awards season, some of the worst comments about females tend to come from other females, judging actresses not by their on-screen talent but how they look off it.

The annual circus of “who wore it best”, not to mention the “best and worst dressed” lists, are surely next for the chop.

Fashion is a serious industry but the rush to condemn a woman because she’s wearing a frock we don’t like is unseemly.

The treatment meted out to the Duchess of Cambridge this week has been unnecessary, to say the least.

According to some, on the royal tour of Scandinavia she looked “frumpy” (I think she looks amazing, given she is six months pregnant). But if she ever wears a shorter hemline, she’s too “risqué” or “glamorous”.

They can’t win. Is it any wonder that Meghan decided to step out in a suit? In one deft move, she showed us all what true sartorial equality looks like.
