Live lobsters delivered to your door

- By Katie Morley

AMAZON has started delivering live lobsters to customers’ homes just as Michael Gove, the Environment Secretary, faces pressure to tighten regulations for the crustaceans to be stored and killed humanely.

The web giant is marketing live lobsters for £46.49 each, with delivery up to 12 days after being ordered.

Campaigners, backed by celebrities including Chris Packham and Bill Bai- ley, claim that lobsters can feel pain and they urged Mr Gove to give them government protection from being boiled alive.

The lobsters available on Amazon are marketed by Fine Food Specialist, based in New Covent Garden, southwest London, and founded by Drogo Montagu, who said there was “no evidence” lobsters could feel pain.

Amazon said that the firm used its platform as an independent vendor and declined to comment further.
