Post office banking

-

SIR – Michael Cattell (Letters, January 26) describes the difficulties of using his local post office for banking.

I recently received a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions asking me to provide my bank details, as it wants to stop paying my state pension into a post office account.

Not all banks have banking arrangements with the post office, which makes this request rather difficult to swallow.

If the Government keeps taking business away from post offices, they will close. Is that the ultimate aim? Edward Howell
