Beach-lovers to clean up the coast

-

Cornwall’s first Love Your Beach Day is to take place on Valentine’s Day, with thousands of people taking part in beach clean-ups across the county.

Volunteers, including members of Holywell Surf Lifesaving Club and Praze and Beeble Women’s Institute, will join forces on Feb 14 to give their local beaches a clean.

After winter storms left rubbish covering Britain’s coastal beauty spots, plastic is high on the agenda. It is estimated that there are 5.25trillion pieces of plastic in the ocean.

Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Cornwall College, which are coordinating the event, are calling for everyone to join in and show their love for the coastline.

Anyone is welcome to take part, and those who can’t make the bigger beach clean-ups are urged to take make their own impact with a mini clean-up. Samantha Herbert
