Equality training for MP after ‘offensive’ remarks
A Labour MP has apologised for using “deeply offensive” language at a Burns supper and is to take part in equality and diversity training.
Hugh Gaffney was reprimanded after he made a joke about Robert Burns not being “bent” and used a racist term when referring to a Chinese meal.
The MP, who represents Coatbridge, Chryston and Bellshill, said: “I will do everything possible to make amends with both the Chinese community and the LGBT community.”
