Quiz can detect autism in two-year-old
A two-minute questionnaire can determine whether a child has autism by the age of two.
The Psychological Development Questionnaire includes 10 questions such as whether a child gestures to get attention, whether they respond to their name or if they show interest in other children. Researchers at Rutgers University in the US applied the method to nearly 2,000 children between the ages of one and three and found it accurately detected autism in 88 per cent of cases.
The condition affects more than 700,000 people in the UK.
