Petrol station robber locked in by staff

 A robber who raided a petrol station was caught after staff locked him in and customers thwarted his escape.

Russell Hadley, 32, was so engrossed in his crime that he did not see employees leaving and securing the doors, Maidstone Crown Court heard.

As he crawled out through a gap he had smashed in a glass door, by now with his trousers halfway down, several customers intervened.

Hadley admitted robbery and criminal damage at the Farthing Corner motorway services on the M2 in Gillingham on Jan 3. He was jailed for three years.
