From pillar to post

- Rose Metcalf Charles Dickinson

SIR – Martin Kearsley (Letters, February 6) extols the virtues of what can be done at the post office.

If only we had one. Our village post office closed about nine months ago, as have other local branches. We now have to travel at least six miles to get to a post office or, for that matter, a bank.

SIR – When RBS closed our local branch in Ladybank, we were advised that all services would be available at the post office.

When the post office closed, we were advised that all services would be available at the Spar shop – but this was not the case, as Spar would not accept cheques for RBS and Natwest accounts. It is now 10 miles to the nearest branch of RBS.
