Rumours grow that Facebook is testing a ‘dislike’ button
Facebook may be designing a “dislike” button, after pressure from users.
The “downvote” function is secretly being tested and applies only to comments, not posts. When clicked, the “dislike” hides the comment and flags it to moderators as potentially offensive.
Facebook has not said if the writer will know their comment has been voted down, but it is thought the comment will remain online for all to see except for the person who “downvoted” it.
Users have often asked for a “dislike” button, but Facebook feared it would encourage negativity. The tech giant said it was only testing it as a feedback tool.
