Banker loses Hong Kong double murder appeal
Rurik Jutting, a former British banker, has lost an appeal against his double murder conviction in Hong Kong.
Jutting, who was jailed for life, admitted killing two Indonesian women, mutilating and torturing them in his apartment in 2014. He denied murder because of his mental state, claiming “diminished responsibility” due to alcohol and drug abuse and his sexual disorders.
His lawyers yesterday failed to convince the appeal court that the trial judge had misdirected the jury.
