Skier avoids opening ceremony
A Team GB skier missed the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics after complaining that it was “absolutely Baltic” in South Korea.
Andrew Musgrave opted to stay at the athletes village while the ceremony got under way, saying he “didn’t think it’s the best prep for my race on Sunday”.
The crosscountry skier is due to take part in the Men’s 15km skiathlon on Sunday, as well as the 30km skiathlon and team sprint relay.
“Pyeongchang isn’t half bad when it warms up a bit and you remember your windproof boxers”, the 27-year-old joked on Twitter.
“It’s only about -5 degrees, but the wind makes if feel absolutely Baltic. Hate to think how cold it will feel if the temperature drops to -20 like it was here last week.”
