Israel inflicts ‘severe blows’ on Iran and Syria

Israel’s prime minister yesterday said that his country had delivered “severe blows” to Iranian and Syrian forces following the most serious Israeli engagement in Syria since war there erupted almost seven years ago.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim came a day after Israel carried out air strikes in Syria after Israeli forces intercepted an Iranian drone and an Israeli F-16 was downed as it returned from Syria.

“We made it ... clear that our rules of action have not changed one bit. We will continue to strike at every attempt to strike at us,” Mr Netanyahu said.
