Killer took cocaine prior to fatal attack on tourist

-

A French tourist on holiday in London with his family was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack by a man high on drink and drugs.

Nicholas Foy, 38, had been drinking and taking cocaine before he attacked 49-year-old Laurent Volpe at random.

Mr Volpe was walking to the shops to buy dinner for his family after a day out when he was stabbed in Eltham, south London, on Aug 11 last year.

Foy was found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey yesterday and is due to be sentenced on Friday.

Cecile Chapais, Mr Volpe’s partner, said in a victim impact statement: “A family of four is now reduced to three.”
