sir – My time of evening relaxation for the past month has been dominated by former chief secretaries to the Treasury. At 9pm, I brew a Horlicks, watch Michael Portillo’s Great British Railway Journeys for half an hour, then kick back into bed with a biography written by Jonathan Aitken.

My friends are starting to worry, as I’m only 22 years old. I, however, am simply looking forward to the day that Liz Truss starts hosting Top Gear.
