Earliest case of prostate cancer found on isle
The earliest case of prostate cancer identified in the UK has been discovered on the small Scottish Isle of May in the Firth of Forth.
Archaeologists on the isle in Fife found it was a centre for healing people who were drawn to its shores seeking succour from the monks who called it home.
Marlo Willows, a University of Edinburgh PHD student, examined remains in the graveyard and discovered almost all of them were riddled with serious and life-ending diseases – including the earliest case of prostate cancer identified in the UK.
