-

 A “lonely” policeman bombarded female crime victims with hundreds of explicit messages after meeting them in the line of duty, a misconduct panel heard yesterday.

Pc Lance Montgomery, 44, quit when Kent Police investigated allegations he contacted crime victims and sent them “disgusting” sexually explicit text messages and images.

Among the victims was a 19-year-old who reported a crime in June last year. Montgomery subsequently sent her 500 text messages, which she described as “disgusting”. During a police interview, he told officers he “felt lonely and enjoyed the contact”. He later admitted gross misconduct.

Montgomery was arrested on Aug 22 but no charges were brought against him.

Alan Pughsley, the Chief Constable, called him a “disgrace to the force”, adding: “I am very pleased he no longer works for Kent Police.”
