Brexiteer tantrums
SIR – I find myself wondering why so many of your correspondents accuse the European Union of “belligerence”, “behaving like children” and “aggression” (Letters, February 14).
One of the regular claims by Brexiteers is that the EU needs us more than we need it. But think about that for a second in the light of those accusations. They can be made only from a position of inferiority. In short, we are not getting what we want so we’re stamping our feet in frustration.
When you choose to leave a club, you no longer get to influence the decisions that club takes. The EU is merely acting in the best interest of its members. Who can blame it? Jon Rollinson
