Links severed Tutu resigns as ambassador
Archbishop Desmond Tutu resigned as an Oxfam global ambassador yesterday, saying he was “disappointed” at claims its staff had indulged in sex parties.
The 86-yearold South African Nobel Peace Prize winner’s decision means that four of the charity’s 15 celebrity ambassadors have now severed links with Oxfam.
A statement from his office sent to The Daily Telegraph
said: “The Archbishop is deeply disappointed by allegations of immorality and possible criminality involving humanitarian workers linked to the charity.
“He is also saddened by the impact of the allegations on the many thousands of good people who have supported Oxfam’s righteous work.”
