Lifting the plastic lid

SIR – The cardboard wrapping on a brand of pâté reads: “We save nine tonnes of plastic every year by keeping our pâtés lid-free”.

This approach, if followed by all manufacturers, would be a great start in reducing waste, as well as generating business for the companies involved, as potential customers might actively seek out their products.
