It’s time to break up with our celebritysplit obsession
The break-up of Jennifer Aniston’s marriage to Justin Theroux was deemed significant enough to make it on to the BBC news. It ruined my day, which was already off to a bad start after leaving Center Parcs.
The fate of celebrity relationships feels personal now that we think we know so much about them and, as a result, the freshly single in the spotlight have to release statements to soften the blow.
The Anistontheroux release said: “We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.” It would seem that the only thing keeping us going is the prospect of a reunion between Aniston and Brad Pitt.
The excitement is almost too much to bear… but then we only have ourselves to blame for getting involved in a Hollywood relationship. I think I might dump them for the foreseeable. It’s not you, Jen, it’s me. Honest.
