Toff-mocking

-

SIR – Every six months I have to attend hospital for an infusion. I am extremely well looked after, but a senior nurse always greets me with: “Here comes the toff.” During the course of my treatment, there are remarks such as: “You must find it very difficult now you have had to get rid of James and the Rolls-royce.”

I find this somewhat upsetting and discriminatory, but with your life in their hands, it is difficult to know how to retaliate. Lady Elizabeth Barne
