Against the clock Smart meter target won’t be hit

Energy firms will miss a 2020 government target for fitting homes with a smart meter, Which? has found.

To meet the deadline they will need to install 24 smart meters every minute, day and night. Only by doing this could they fit the million a month needed to hit the deadline. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has admitted that the installations will fall short.
