SIR – Writing about empty churches in his local benefice, Simon Williams (Magazine, February 17) suggests that “they’ll be taken over by Starbucks soon, with free Wi-fi”.

He might be encouraged to know that the shoe is on the other foot in our local Anglican church. “Chat and Chill” sessions are held (with management support) at Costa Coffee to engage with the community, complementing our thriving Sunday services.

Meanwhile, Anglican churches will soon be facilitating rural Wi-fi. Judith Jennings
