Looking sharp

Large crowds braved the cold winter weather to applaud and cheer the Royal Marines as they marched through the streets of Birmingham. Those gathered witnessed an impressive display of military tradition that brought the streets around Victoria Square to a standstill after the Royal Marines became the 16th armed forces unit to receive the Freedom of the City from the Lord Mayor. Receiving the award means that the Royal Marines can now “march with drums beating, bands playing, Colours flying and bayonets fixed”, in the city.
