Bollywood’s ‘first female superstar’ dies aged 54
Sridevi, Bollywood’s first female superstar, has died in Dubai after a cardiac arrest, it was reported yesterday.
The Indian actress and film producer, who was 54, was in the UAE to attend a family wedding and died late on Saturday.
In a career spanning five decades, Sridevi acted in 300 films and was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour in 2013.
She is survived by her husband – Boney Kapoor, the film producer – and their daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi.
