Why did the otter cross the road?

-

A LOST otter pup has been rescued after it was seen tumbling alongside cars on the A64 in North Yorkshire.

“Flow” was seen dragging its back leg, which was likely clipped by a vehicle. An animal lover retrieved the tiny female otter trying to cross the A-road in Malton before calling the RSPCA. Leanne Honess-heather, an animal collection officer, said: “We suspect that she became separated from her mother, took a wrong turning and got lost trying to find her way back home to the nearby River Derwent.”

A vet found the young cub had no broken bones, but was bruised, cold and hungry.

After food and fluids the animal perked up instantly, and was soon strong enough to be transferred to one of the RSPCA’S wildlife centres.

It is hoped the pup can be released back into the wild close to where it was found near the River Derwent. Samantha Herbert
