Pupils told to ‘slant eyes’ for class China project picture
A primary school head teacher has apologised after pupils were allegedly told to slant their eyes to make them “look Chinese” for a class photograph.
The six and seven-yearolds, who were working on a project about China, were dressed in Chinese clothing for the picture.
They were asked by a teacher to pull up the side of their eyes. The unnamed teacher and a teaching assistant were also in the picture, which was later pinned to a window of New Bradwell School in Milton Keynes, Bucks.
Phil Webster, the head teacher, said: “The school would like to apologise if we caused any offence and after our internal investigation has been completed will look to see if any changes need to be made with the school’s procedures and policies.”
