DUVET DRESSING
For those (read: the Telegraph fashion team) expecting to thaw out in Milan because, well, it’s
in Italy, the rain-andsnow reality came as a shock. Similar scenes on the home front have convinced us of the wisdom of a blanket coat, like Jil Sander’s stiff, felted floral shoulder wraps, folded overcoats like origami, or Brunello Cucinelli’s ponchos, laced with metallic threads – so that while you might feel as though you’re wearing PJS, you won’t look as if you are. Fendi took it one step further with literal duvet dressing: cushioned padding over thick-rib knits – great in a snowstorm, or even to gain you a little extra personal space on the tube. Paired with high-shine skirts and ankle boots, they looked surprisingly sleek – or wear with Furla’s supersized padded bags-cumpillows to be fully weatherproof
(and able to nap on the hoof ).
