Good (2008)
BBC ONE, 11.50PM ★★★
Viggo Mortensen gives a thoughtful performance as a German professor whose ideas about euthanasia are adopted by the Nazis. It’s only when he becomes a concentration camp inspector that he grasps the horror of his ideas. Vicente Amorim’s adaptation of CP Taylor’s play doesn’t shirk big questions, but he tends to fall back on clichés – hammerings on the piano, etc – and it plays a bit like a Nazi version of Rising Damp.
