Council kills off tax hike for Dales second homes
A plan to increase council tax on second homes in the Yorkshire Dales to keep young families in the area has been blocked by the local council.
Members of Richmondshire District Council, the park’s largest authority, voted not to join other local authorities in talking to the Government, effectively ending the plan.
Carl Lis, the chairman of the park authority, said: “The decision has let down local communities by stopping the conversation before it had properly started.”
