Breastfeeding magazine cover divides India

A magazine cover depicting an image of a woman breastfeeding a baby has divided India.

The fortnightly women’s magazine Grihalakshmi, which is published in the southern state of Kerala, shows 27-year-old model Gilu Joseph holding an infant at her breast, with the headline: “Mothers tell Kerala – don’t stare! We want to breastfeed”.

The magazine said they wanted to make a statement on the “taboo” that surrounds public breastfeeding.
