Man jailed after armed siege at bowling alley
A man seized two hostages during a four-hour armed siege at a bowling alley last year because he wanted to go out in a “blaze of glory” after his relationship broke down, a court heard. David Clarke, 53, of Nuneaton, armed himself and went to the MFA Bowl complex in town on Oct 22, where he and his ex-girlfriend worked.
A judge at Warwick Crown Court sent him to jail for two years after Clarke admitted firearms and kidnapping offences. Prosecutors said the defendant intended “suicide by cop”.
