Sixth arrest over flat blast that killed five

A sixth arrest has been made in the investigation into a Leicester explosion as three men are due in court today.

The blast destroyed a supermarket and a two-storey flat in the city eight days ago, killing five people. Last night a man in his 40s from East Anglia, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

Arkan Ali, 37, from Oldham, Hawkar Hassan, 32, of Coventry, and Aram Kurd, 33, of Leicester, are due to appear at Leicester magistrate’s court today charged with manslaughter and arson with intent to endanger life. Four of the dead were named as Shane, 18, and Sean Rajoobeer, 17, Leah Beth Reek, 18, and Viktorija Ljevleva, 22.
