Waking the Dead, has written this pacy five-part thriller prequel to the TV series. Set 15 years before the events of the show begin, it tells the story of how the cold-case team originated. It’s 1984, and a convicted serial killer/rapist launches an appeal against his conviction, accusing the police, in particular young DC Peter Boyd (Anthony Howell) and forensic scientist Frankie Wharton, of corruption. There are just five days to clear their names and prevent the criminal’s acquittal.
